White Picket Fence

We have constructed a white picket fence at STA. Rather than wood and nails we opted for long rolls of white paper, staples, and painters tape but it does the trick. In one of our classrooms we have set up an art table and an open invitation to create. The kids have been adding their art to the white picket fence and it is making our hallway much more fall-like.

Our art table is complete with leaves (in red, yellow, and orange of course!), raffia, paint, sponges, markers, glue, stickers, paper bags, tissue paper, scissors, pompoms, glitter, sand, and all sorts of fall colouring pictures. The table gives the kiddos a chance to practice their skills and be a little creative at the same time. Here's a peek at what they're coming up with...

This textured pumpkin was made by sprinkling some orange sand on red paint.

Tissue paper torn up and stuffed in a treat bag is an excellent addition to our fence and it's also really good for practicing fine motor skills.

Lots of sponge painted leaves!

And these leaves that were carefully decorated with markers and stickers. It looks like somebody is practicing their lines and pre-printing hand control.

There's this fall inspired masterpiece.

A family of smiling jack-o-lanterns. Great practice for cutting circles and straight lines, gluing, and even recognizing body parts (2 eyes, 1 nose, and a smile!)

And last but certainly not least, a red PacMan ghost!
